After a home invasion, Madison on starts having visions of murder but it turns out the murders really happened and could she be the one committing it? Or could it be a long forgotten imaginary friend?
Malignant is the newest movie from James Wan, director of The Conjouring series, and was written by him as well. The movie has the signature filiming style of Wan and was written by him as well.
The acting was okay, not good or bad. Annabelle Wallis, who plays Madison, was probably the best of the cast but it isn't hard to stand out in this movie.
The story is interesting and while it makes little sense it is still a creative concept. The execution of the concept is where it falls flat. The scene in the beginning wasn't needed. It was just a little too much to start with.
The music was an interesting choice, and by interesting I mean weird. The music in The way too long intro was not what was expected and it carried on throughout the movie. It was supposed to make the movie feel more unnerving but it was so out of place that it was almost laughable.
in the end, this movie was not great. It seemed like the concept was there but little pieces made the movie fall apart in the end. Wan has an almost cult like following so his fans are sure to love it. If you’re a horror fan you might even love the gore of the brutal killing scenes. Overall, Malignant is nothing more than a mess with the strangest soundtrack playing over it.
