Jack is a road hard musician that has a bit of a drinking and drug problem. While on the search for a bar to get black out drunk at he ends up at a drag bar where he sees Ally performing. It’s then that he starts to fall for her.

Ally wants to be a musician but is beat down and doesn’t have any confidence in herself. Then Jack comes into her life, tells her she is amazing and they fall in love. He convinces her to sing in front of a crowd and the rest, as they say, is history.

The chemistry between Cooper and Lady Gaga is undeniable. There is a feeling you get when you see them look at each other. When they performed Shallow for the first time, it sends shivers through you. Lady Gaga is a powerhouse of a singer and Bradly Cooper is just as good. Together they make some really beautiful music.

After Ally is heard singing with Jack she is offered a record deal. This changes everything for both Jack and Ally. She is finally able to perform her own songs and be the performer she has wanted to be while Jack gets to see her blossom. It isn’t long before Jack’s drinking takes a turn.

A Star is Born is an Oscar worthy movie with some of the best music in a movie in a long time. Each song, even Ally’s pop tunes, is fantastic and easy to listen to. Cooper is bound to get a nomination for not only lead actor but director as well. Shallow will be nominated for best song.

Lady Gaga encouraged them to sing live for the shots because it’s distracting when signers lip sync for movies. This small change makes the world of difference. You can feel the emotion coming through more and it gives the movie a raw feeling. You feel like you are at the concert seeing them perform. Had they decided to lip sync, I am not sure the music would have been as powerful.

While this movie is one of the best movies of 2018, the ending can be triggering for some people. Without spoilers, be prepared to sob. Bring lots of tissues and on your way home from the movie make sure you have the soundtrack because you will be seeking it out. And look for Lady Gaga to be more than that crazy pop star. She stands out and does an amazing performance. Absolutely go see A Star is Born while it’s at theaters.

**Editor’s note: while Shallow is a great song, I suggest listening to I’ll Never Love Again. There is a lot of emotion in this song and before they filmed this scene Lady Gaga found out her best friend just died. She channeled that into this song and you can really tell.**
