Flashback Friday is a new series where we go back and watch movies that love or we haven't seen, surprisingly. These can be movies from the 30's, 40's and beyond.

It always shocks people when I say I have never seen the Back to the Future franchise. It seems like something I would love - time travel and a young Michael J. Fox - but I never took the time to watch it. The 31 year streak ended finally.

Marty is friends with ol' Doc Brown. Doc finally creates a working time machine in a Delorean and after an unfortunate accident Marty is sent 30 years in the past. Now he must make sure his parents end up together or risk not being born.

First of all, my biggest question is how does a 17 year old meet and hang out with a kooky scientist and no one bats an eye? How does this happen? I can overlook it though because BTTF is a really good and entertaining movie.

The humor in Back to the Future holds up and even made me, the cold and heartless person that I am, laugh. There are a few cringe moments but honestly what movie from the 80's doesn't. The acting is great and the all star cast really brings their A game.

The director, Robert Zameckis, has made a lot of movies over the years that are loved - Forrest Gump, Cast Away, What Lies Beneath - so it's no surprise that BTTF is a beautiful movie. He really captures the 50's well (which at that time was only 30 years ago!) and keeps you entertained.

I'm really glad I finally took the time to watch this classic. I enjoyed it and I look forward to watching the other two in the franchise. The acting, script and directing is phenomenal. If you haven't see Back to the Future then I suggest watching it. If you have, watch it again! It's also a great movie to introduce to your kids and would make a great family movie night pick.
