Taking place immediately after the events of 2018’s Halloween, Halloween Kills shows why heard mentality can be deadly and why Michael kills.
After setting her house on fire and trapping Michael, Laurie assumes the terror is over. But when rescue arrives on the scene to put out the fire, they accidently unleash Michael on the terrified Haddonfield again.
Halloween Kills reintroduces us to a few characters from previous movies like Tommy Doyle, the boy Laurie was babysitting the night Michael came and Lindsay, played by Kyle Richards. In fact, there are lots of little throwbacks to the original Halloween and some of the now decannonized sequels. A personal favorite are the masks of the three kids. They are the Silver Shamrock masks from Halloween III: Season of the Witch.
Laurie, played by Jamie Lee Curtis as usual, spends most of the movie in the hospital so her daughter and granddaughter must help fight Michael and save Haddonfield. Tommy, played by Anthony Michael Hall and not Paul Rudd, gathers the town to help stop Michael but what he really does is incite a riot, trap an innocent man and get almost everyone killed. Good job Tommy.
Halloween Kills isn’t anything fancy or new. They took what made 2018’s Halloween popular and built on that. It’s lots of killing, lots of blood and a confusing and sometimes poorly acted movie that horror fans are sure to love.
