Tom and his wife Alice are spending the weekend in a house built by famous architect Frederick Banner. But when Tom uncovers secrets about Banner and his wives, he must do all he can to protect Alice.

Mid-Century’s plot is all over the place. You are jumping between Tom realizing the house is the one Banner, his hero, lived in and it being haunted by his wife that he killed to Banner being in a cult and the cult is trying to bring him back. Had they really settled on a plot then maybe it had a chance but sadly this movie is a mess.

The whole movie felt disjointed. The acting was weird and not great. Shane West acted like he was forced to this movie while Chelsea Gilligan was acting her heart out. You would think with two big name actors, Bruce Dern and Stephen Lang, this movie would have a chance but sadly it’s a dud.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece but Mid-Century was a bummer. If they would have stuck with a haunted house story and Tom uncovering the truth about Banner and what he did then it would have been better. Adding in the cult subplot and SPOILERS killing Tom was unnecessary. I was hoping for a good ghost story and got a weird mess.
