I have a confession to make: I wasn't a fan of Get Out. I'm sorry and I know. There are a few things that could have contributed to me not liking it. The first was I watched it at home and watching a movie at home is hard. I was folding laundry, playing with my phone, going for a walk - you name it. I just couldn't focus. The second problem was I just didn't want to see it. Sorry.

That being said, I was excited for Us. The trailer made it look super intense and I love a good, intense movie. Plus Lupita Nyong'o is a fantastic actress and I wanted to see her do something different.

Us is, in essence, a story of a family battling copies of themselves. It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers but for a modern age. When Adelaide was a young girl she wandered off from her family and ended up in a hall of mirrors. While in there she ends up seeing a copy of herself and ends up traumatized by the event.

Cut to her as an adult, married with kids. She never really told her husband about what happened but she knew the shadow of herself was still coming for her. Turns out, she was right. But not only is there a copy of herself - there is a copy of everyone and they have come to replace them.

Us is a good movie that keeps you guessing and entertained. Was it the best movie ever? No and honestly, I probably won't watch it again. It was a good one and done. I know, I know, there are so many little things that you may have missed in the background! But I don't care to find all the little things. I noticed a lot of things as I was watching. That's enough for me.

Some of the many questions I had while watching this includes: Who paid for all the scissors? Where did they get all the jumpsuits? Is there really millions of people hiding in underground tunnels and no one noticed? Did someone notice and then they were slowly replaced? Wouldn't you notice that? And a question my sister had: wouldn't it make more sense that they had to kill the tethered (that's what the copies are called) with their scissors?

Overall, I would recommend watching Us. It's a good movie but I just don't really get the hype. It's not really anything new but it's not bad either. I'm always excited to see what Jordan Peele does, Keanu was fantastic, and I am patiently waiting to see what his next project will be.
